End of Soccer Season

Harper had his very last soccer game last weekend. It's been a fun season watching him but we're all happy for the break. Practice twice a week and Saturday morning games is a lot. All in all I think Harper did a great job. It was his first season and while he spent a decent amount of time shooting invisible bad guys on the field, he did seem to learn the sport somewhat. His only complaint was that soccer took up his play time but he always enjoyed his practices and games. He never complained.

After their last game some of the team went to Three Brothers for lunch. They had pizza and then the coaches handed out their trophy's. Dakota was a little upset she didn't get one too! If there was a trophy for best supporting sister, she'd have won! She was at nearly every practice and game and always wanted to see what Harper was doing.

I think Harper has decided to give baseball a try this spring. I want to encourage him to try different things and I think little Miss Dakota is ready to give something a try too.

Landon Goes to Homecoming (10-1-16)

Landon decided to attend homecoming this year with a bunch of his friends. He didn't go last year but this year his friends were able to persuade him.

I have to say, getting a boy ready for homecoming is WAY different than getting a girl ready! There was no dress, shoe and accessory shopping. There was no reason to schedule a hair appointment, or makeup for that matter. He literally made sure the clothes from our recent cruise fit, showered and left. Crazy.

He looked incredibly handsome.

He met up with some friends at a neighbors house and they had dinner together and then we got some group pictures:

I drove him and his friend Tyler to the dance at 7. It was over at 11 and that was Tony's run. Landon said he'd had a good time and he was glad he'd gone. My baby sure has grown up.

Field Trip to Maryland Science Center

Today I went to the science center with Harper and his classmates. I can't remember the last time we went and Harper has never been so I was a little excited to get to go with him. (Tony stayed home with Dakota and got her off to preschool so that I could go with Harps.)

We got there just after 10 am and had a little time to let the kids explore before their IMAX movie started at 10:30. The movie was about monarch butterflies and it was very interesting! It was amazing how crystal clear the film was and how closely they filmed in order to see each and every detail. You could actually see the butterflies laying their eggs on the leaves of milkweed, which is also the only thing they eat. I learned a lot, apparently!

After the movie we had lunch and then had about an hour and fifteen minutes to do what we wanted. The kids loved all of the interactive elements and I spent a lot of time reading the signs to them so they'd understand what was happening.

I didn't get picked to go on the next field trip, which is to the BSO, and I have to say I think I got the better of the trips! (I'm not a big fan of watching an orchestra play.) I'm just glad that so many parents signed up to go that they actually couldn't have everyone. Usually not enough people volunteer so this is a nice change!

Happy November!

Hi there!

It's certainly been awhile since I've written and honestly, I don't know where to begin. October was crazy busy and, as usual, the first thing to go was blogging. I always regret not making the time but I can't ever seem to squeeze it in when life is hectic.

I guess I'll begin with some pictures of the kids Halloween costumes:

Landon dressed up as Negan from The Walking Dead. It was kind of last minute but I thought he looked the part once we got the red scarf in place. (We had to wrap a metal bat in brown paper and then use some old jewelry wire to create barbed wire, but since it was dark it all looked pretty good.)

Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Moe...

Harper wanted to be a robot this year. He's had a real thing with robots lately... Anyways, robots aren't a popular costume choice so buying one was pretty much out of the question. I did some research on Pinterest and ended up making him one. It was a bit of a headache but in the end I was pretty happy with how it turned out and I learned a lot in the process. Harper really liked it (even though it was a bit difficult to walk and see in) and we got a ton of compliments. :)

Dakota finally settled on being a kitty cat after first choosing a witch, princess and ghost. I was thankful for the super easy costume choice! The only thing I made for her were some kitty cat gloves, and man was I glad I did because it was cold walking around last night!

Chris, Lori and Lea came over as they have every year for as long as I can remember and we headed out. It wasn't quite dark at 6 pm but the kids were anxious to get moving, so we did. They walked our entire neighborhood with the exception of two cul de sacs, which is quite a lot of walking. They ended up with tons of candy and even though Tony took a huge plastic bag of it to work, we've got enough to last us till next Halloween.

Another Halloween behind us and Thanksgiving just around the corner...this year sure has flown by.

Happy Fall and Happy November!

April Fools Pranks

The two little kids made me laugh yesterday morning.  I was upstairs getting things ready for school when I heard them talking about how ...
