The rules are simple. You roll a die and then move your playing piece into a room according to the number you roll. In each room is an animal who witnessed the thief take the kings ring and you can talk to the animals to get clues as to what the thief looks like. To get an animal to talk to you you must provide the food that particular animal wants. So, for instance, when we wanted information from the peacock, we had to first find the food it asked for, nuts. Once we had the nuts we were able to get back to the peacock, feed it and get a clue as to who the thief was.
On the die is also a ghost who travels room to room. If you roll the ghost you move him into the next room and if anyone is in there they get sent back to the start! While all of this is going on there is also a clock ticking away so there is a bit of pressure to find out who the thief is within a specific time frame as well.
Overall this is a terrific game and as soon as we'd finished the first time the kids were ready for round two. I like that it is cooperative and we have the chance to work as a team which is always nice for kids this age. My kids HATE losing but when we all lose together it just doesn't seem so bad!
