After picking apples we headed over to the farm market and cider mill. We usually pay for the attractions and let the kids have fun going down the slides, running through the hay bale maze and riding the tractor pulled hayride but the line was terribly long when we got there so we decided to forgo all that this year. These two are getting a bit big for what they offer there anyways and it may be time to find another fall activity. (Bummer.)
Since we were there we made our way to the food trucks for lunch. In years past the volunteer fire department grilled burgers and stuff but this year they had a couple food trucks to choose from. The kids shared a chicken tender/french fry basket while Tony and I opted for mini tacos (him) and a fancy grilled cheese (me). My grilled cheese really wasn't all that fancy but it sounded good at the time and it was tasty enough.
The bees were absolutely horrendous so we ate as quickly as possible and then went into the farmers market to see what goodies they had. We ended up buying some vegetables we knew we needed for dinners later in the week and we also bought a couple of their homemade desserts. We grabbed a pumpkin roll, two giant iced cinnamon rolls for Landon and a giant chocolate muffin for the kids to split.
Did you know there was purple cauliflower in this world? I didn't!
While Tony waited in line to buy our stuff the kids and I walked around the store a bit. Harper loved reading all the fall/Halloween signs they had everywhere.
We've decided that if we're going to drive out there next year we'll definitely try to go earlier in the season since it seems that they're less busy then. I hate to give up these family traditions even though I know my kids are getting too big for some of them!
