North Pole Walk at Willow Oak Farm

The Friday after Thanksgiving we made our way to the North Pole. A little farm that's only about a mile up the road from us hosts a North Pole Lights Walk every year. We've been once before and the kids really enjoyed it so we thought we'd go again. Of course, we met up with our friends the Wakefield's, because everything is more fun with friends!

We got there at 5 pm, thirty minutes after they opened and the parking lot was a madhouse. The farm is pretty small and the parking is minimal but we were able to create a little spot in between some trees and another van.

After purchasing our tickets we headed inside to find a snow fairy who told the kids that they'd need to touch the magic snow in her basket in order to make it to and from the North Pole in one night.

Once everyone had touched the magic snow we headed off to the path and into the North Pole.

Getting pictures of the kids was next to impossible! They were excited and kept running ahead of us barely pausing to look at anything! They were really enjoying being outside in the dark with all the lights and decorations and I didn't really press the whole picture issue.

As we neared the end of the walk we found Santa! (He was a bit depressing really and the kids didn't really want anything to do with him. He seemed a bit impatient and unsure of his duties...) Next to Santa was an elf playing Christmas tunes on his guitar; it was...unusual.

We knew we were getting close to the end of our travels when we saw signs for Santa's workshop and the Candy Cane Forest.

When we made it back to the starting point we were all given small cups of hot cocoa and a cookie. It was a fun little holiday activity and the kids seemed to enjoy it again but I have to wonder how many more years they'll appreciate it. It seems like they're growing up awfully fast.
