Swim Test for Dakota

I need to take a quick break from blogging about our vacation to report that Dakota passed our neighborhood pool swim test yesterday! We've been trying to convince her to take the test for awhile and after seeing her swim the past few weeks we knew she was ready. We went to the pool on Saturday afternoon for awhile and she was able to do what was required then but wasn't ready to take the test for the lifeguard until Sunday when we went back.

Our pool requires that the kids be able to tread water for 1 minute and then swim the length of the pool without stopping or touching the sides or bottom. Dakota began with the tread and had no problem with it at all. After catching her breath she began her swim from the deep end to the shallow end and she did it! It was terrific! Everyone who knew what she was doing clapped for her when she made it, we were all so proud!

You can see Harper behind her as well as Sydney under water near her as she makes her way down the pool. They both cheered her on and as soon as she'd finished Harper came over to congratulate her. He is such and incredible big brother!!

When the kids pass the test they are taken into the pool room to write down their name and get a pool wrist band that alerts the guards to who has taken and passed the test. Now Dakota can swim in the deep end with her friends anytime she wants, even if we aren't in the water. Go Dakota!
