Dave and Busters, Rolled Ice Cream and Five Stitches

Pretty much every summer for the past couple of years, my friend Lisa and I make a list of things to keep the kids busy. Sometimes the activities repeat and sometimes there are new things added in. One of the kids' favorites is Dave and Busters and they got the chance to spend some time there last Friday. Lisa and her kiddo's were able to get there right at opening (10 am) and we got there shortly after 11 am (I had to drop Landon at work first). They all played until their money ran out and then we walked down to the food court for lunch. We ended up grabbing pizza at Sbarro's and heading home afterwards. I've had pizza at Sbarro's before and never really thought it was that good but this past week it was terrific! I had the pepperoni stromboli and YUM!

That afternoon while the kids were busy I decided to get started on Landon's bedroom. I've had everything to paint for awhile now but just haven't had the time to get to work on it. So, I thought, if I start, it'll just have to get finished. That first day I spent a lot of time taking things off the walls and clearing the tops of shelves and furniture as well as dusting. I patched holes and then started painting the trim (it was a cream color and I wanted it to be white like the rest of the house). I didn't get very far that night because of constant interruptions, but it was a beginning...

Around 5 o'clock I put everything away and we went to dinner at Zinburger. Tony and I had been there before but Mema LOVES a good hamburger so we thought she might like to try it too. It was a hit with everyone, even the kids! Tony and I both tried the El Diablo burger and it was terrific!

After dinner we wanted to get some ice cream so we stopped at The Crepe Escape. They have rolled ice cream there, something we'd never tried, and it was pretty great!

Tony picked up some supplies on his way home from work that afternoon to try to recreate the tropical martini we had on our trip. As he was searching under the cabinets for something he went to move the food processor out of the way and accidentally bumped the blade with his pinky. When he yanked his hand away from the blade, it flipped up into the air and landed, blade down, into his other hand, giving him a large gash around the knuckles. Freak accident, right?!

The pinky was bleeding like crazy but the gash on his hand never did bleed and we couldn't tell how deep it was so I asked Landon to take him to Righttime to have it checked out. (It was getting close to 9 pm and the kids were still up but in their pj's and about to go to bed so I was lucky that Landon could take him!) He ended up needing 5 stitches so it's a good thing he went!
