We had six try's last night, and our first wasn't a candy but a bottle of Flying Cauldron Butterscotch Beer; like from Harry Potter. I thought it was really good and reminded me of a cream soda with a hint of butterscotch.
Our next try was a Japanese sugar candy called Konpeito. It wasn't nearly as exciting as we'd hoped and just tasted like hard chunks of sugar.
One of my favorite candy bars is a Kit Kat so when I saw a wall full of different flavors Kit Kat's from Japan I knew we'd need to try at least one kind. I had a few unusual things in my basket already though so I went with one I thought we'd actually like, Premium Mint. I loved it and would suggest that we get that flavor out on the shelves of every store, stat!
Dakota said she only liked them, not loved them and made this silly face when I took her picture!
I buy most of our candy from Lolli & Pops because they have such a huge selection and as I was perusing the aisles I came across Unicorn Toots and there was no way I was walking out of the store without them! They are cotton candy flavored powdery mints that dissolve in your mouth...you know, the ones your grandma would give you or the one's you grab as you walked out of a dimly lit Chinese restaurant. I know you know what I'm talking about.
Landon and I were not fans. At all.
I ended up getting a lot of Japanese candy this time for some reason and the next one we tried was called Botan Rice Candy. We were all very skeptical about this one, mostly because of it's name, but it ended up not being weird at all. We did however learn that the inner wrapper of the candy was edible, but only after we sat at the table trying to "open" it for about 5 minutes; it says so right on the box even. (Reading is always a good idea!)
Our final try it of the evening was another Harry Potter inspired candy, Jelly Slugs. I thought these would maybe be like gummy bears but they were actually just like Swedish Fish and man do I hate those things!
When we were all done I had everyone choose their least favorite as well as the one they liked best.
