Bedroom Trees

I had intended to let the little kids decorate their bedroom trees on a day in December so that it'd be included in my December Daily album (and I can't say that it won't be included anyways!) but I couldn't wait that long and ended up letting them set them up a day early. I put the trees in their room while they were at school and once they'd finished their homework I told them they should go and see what was in their bedrooms. They flew up the stairs and both were super excited to see their trees! I had already put the lights and a strand of candy so they were able to start decorating right away. I packaged all of their ornaments separately last year so that they would have the same as before and there wouldn't be any fighting; it worked.

It took them each about half an hour to decorate their tree and they were very content working alone. As a matter of fact, I think their favorite part was doing it alone. They had full control of where each ornament went and how. I loved standing outside their door and listening to them talk to themselves about where they were going to put the next piece and how they would stop to admire a particular ornament before putting it on.

Harper likes to sleep with his on all night while Dakota says the flashing lights creep her out and prefers to keep them off. It surprises me that she wants it off considering she slept with her lights on in her room until about a year ago!
