Daisy Scouts, May Meeting

Since I've been feeling a bit better after having the epidural and sessions of physical therapy I've been trying to get back to doing some exercise. I'm pretty limited in what I can do (no running, lifting over my head, and because my arm/hand goes numb, nothing sitting on the ground or bending at the waist) so I've just been trying to get some walking in here and there. I feel like it's basically nothing though and am not inspired to do it at all.. To say it's a struggle would be accurate but I've set a goal to do at least 3, 3+ mile walks a week to try to get back into the swing of things. We'll see how that works out before I add anything else.

On Wednesday, while Dakota went to scouts, I decided to walk the track that's nearby. I only walked for 30 minutes though because I was wearing flip flops and tiny rocks kept getting between my foot and shoe; that crap hurts! Dakota wasn't very happy about me not helping out with scouts but after the day I'd had (therapy, making returns at stores, taking Landon for senior pics and then to work only to get home and take her to scouts) I needed a little time to myself. After I walked I ended up helping out with the end of the meeting and all was well.

The girls were working on a Go Green patch. There was a representative from the county recycling plant who came out to talk with them about reusing, reducing and recycling waste. She also had them do an activity where they made beads using old magazine pages torn into strips and then rolled around a pencil. They strung them on plastic bag bracelets...it was a cool concept but a little tough for the 5/6 year old crowd.

They also did an activity where they had to place stickers on their correct waste bin. There were 4 bins, compost, aluminum, paper and plastic. There were stickers of compostable foods, paper towels rolls, empty soup cans and plastic milk jugs etc. for them to sort.

We've only got two meetings left for the year but there are a couple fun events that we'll be doing before school lets out as well. A trip to Medieval Times and Hyper Kidz to celebrate the end of the year!

April Fools Pranks

The two little kids made me laugh yesterday morning.  I was upstairs getting things ready for school when I heard them talking about how ...
