May the 4th...and some other stuff

Friday was May the 4th and Dakota told me that meant it was Star Wars Day. I'm not a Star Wars fan by any means but when Dakota requested a t-shirt to wear in honor of the day, I made it happen.

After getting those two off to school I got ready for physical therapy and then got in the van to head that way. I had just gotten out of the driveway when I noticed a thumping sound. It sounded like a flat tire so I stopped and got out to see if I had a flat. I didn't notice anything so I got back in the van and drove a little further but still heard the thumping sound. Again, I pulled over and didn't see anything wrong with the tires. I was perplexed but really needed to get to therapy so I got back in and kept going. Well, by the time I got to the front of the neighborhood I was totally freaking out about the loud thumping and got out one for time to see if I was dragging something or what the hell was going on. This time I saw a big screw sticking out of my back tire. My tire wasn't flat but the screw was so big that every time it hit the pavement I would hear a big thump.

I called and cancelled my therapy and drove straight to a near by shop to get the tire taken care of. I wasn't sure if they were going to be able to patch it or if I'd need a new tire but I braced myself for the worst. They told me it was going to be a good while before they'd have a chance to look at it so I found a seat and prepared for a long wait. I was surprised when less than thirty minutes later they told me my van was ready! They'd had a cancellation and were able to patch my tire and less than $40 later I was back on the road.

I was meeting Tony up at Zoe's Kitchen for lunch that afternoon so I was glad that I had my tire fixed in time. I hate to miss a lunch date! Since we never got to go out and officially celebrate him earning his masters degree I decided I'd give him gift for a job well done. He'd mentioned the new Fitbit Versa a couple times so I thought that seemed like a nice graduation gift. He seemed genuinely surprised when he opened the box and he's not taken it off since I gave it to him on Friday. I hope he continues to enjoy it!
