18 Years

Last Saturday Tony and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. 18 whole years married. Crazy, right? We've been together for 22 total, which seems even crazier. We had a shit ton going on last weekend but squeezed in a dinner at Gordon Ramsay Steak at the Horseshoe Casino

Dakota had her dance recital the same afternoon (I'll post about that later) and it didn't end until about 3:15 pm. After her recital we went home to get everything settled for the night and then we headed out. We had dinner reservations at 6 pm so since we were there pretty early we found a spot at Guy Fieri's  bar and had a drink. Tony got a beer on tap while I opted for Guy's Big Island Punch. Drinking it made me excited about our upcoming cruise!

We hadn't eaten much all day because we'd been so busy and we ended up ordering an appetizer to hold us over until dinner. We went with the Maryland Crab Fondue and while it was good it was nowhere near as good as some of the other crab dips we've had around here. Living in Maryland means top notch crab dishes and this just didn't cut it. Oh well.

When six pm finally rolled around we walked over to the restaurant. It was directly across the casino from the bar we were sitting at. We were immediately seated and when our waiter came out he asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. We told him we were and he then brought out two flutes of (really good) champagne. I typically don't care for champagne but we both enjoyed whatever he brought out. Our waiter turned out to be a phenomenal guy who was both witty and charming all rolled into one. He couldn't wait to show us the "meat trolley" and wheeled it over to show us the different cuts we could choose from. See the one in the middle? That's a Royal Longbone Chop and only cost a small fortune at $95. We didn't get that.

Since we'd had an appetizer just an hour before we skipped that and Tony ended up choosing the New York Strip for dinner (only $58! what a steal!) while I picked the Roasted Beef Wellington ($54, I'm cheap, what can I say). Both were delicious but mine was WAY better...in my opinion, of course. As you can see, mine came with some vegetables, a potato puree and a red wine demi glace. We also ordered a side of brussel sprouts to share since we both love sprouts.

I couldn't even finish my meal I was so stuffed from the drinks and appetizer but I did enjoy every bite! Tony loved his too and although it was terribly expensive, it seemed worth it on such an occasion. This may have made it to the number two spot for expensive meals...Morton's still ranks numero uno. It was a great night and we laughed and laughed about all kinds of stuff.

This is Tony's "holy shit this bill is expensive and I'm nearly too drunk to read it face".

Since we'd both been drinking we decided we would walk around and check out the casino a little. We stumbled upon a live band and some crazy people. At one point the singer came downstairs and gave an audience member the microphone and that woman blew us away with how well she could sing. I mean, she definitely could have used some fine tuning, but dang could she sing! There were lots of people dancing and we got a good laugh out of some of their moves. We stayed there until we were good to drive and then we headed home.

18 years down and looking forward to another 18!
