The wolf pack got to carry the flags at the beginning of the ceremony but unfortunately I could hardly get any good pictures. Those flags are heavy (and I don't believe they ever practiced) so it took more than one of them to walk with the flag to the post. You can kind of see a little of Harper's face behind that center white flag.
After the flags were posted and the boys said the boy scout promise and the pledge of allegiance we all sat down to eat dinner. Once dinner was done the boys were called up in their troops with their leaders for speeches and to tell what they'd been working on all year and their achievements. Harper and his troop recently went on a trip to Eco Adventure where they helped to build a habit for one of their new creatures, a salamander named Booger. Once her speech was done we were called up to get group photo's and then Tony pinned on Harper's new bear patch. They pin the patch on upside down and the patch is only flipped right side up when Harper "does a good turn".
(When I was recording him crossing the bridge I meant to push the button to take a photo but accidentally hit the stop button. So, we had to wait until the end of the evening and go back to get a photo! Oops!)
Once over the bridge the boys in the older troop were waiting to help them change from their old yellow wolf neck kerchief to their newer light blue one. They were also given a small trinket and the new bears were given a keychain with a whistle, compass, magnifying glass and thermometer. It also has a "bear claw" weapon and a ring from one of the retired flags that represents the boy scouts respect for fallen soldiers. It's a really nice keepsake and Harper hasn't put it down since it was given to him.
