Field Day Avenger, 2018

Field day is something my kids look forward to each year. They get a little more than two hours to run around outside playing all kinds of games with their class and they always have an amazing time. I decided to volunteer to help this year because I never really have AND because both of them had field day at the same time. The older kids, 3rd through 5th have field day in the morning and the younger ones, kindergarten through 2nd are in the afternoon.

It had been raining much of the week leading up to field day but we all got lucky Friday morning when the sun finally came out. It ended up being really hot but the kids were just really happy to be outside having a good time. I was assigned the shoe/water race. The kids are split into two teams and line up behind two large empty buckets; each team is given a shoe. There is a single larger bucket full of water about 10 feet away and they are to race to the single bucket with their (size 20!!!) shoe, fill it with water and then dump the water into their teams empty bucket. The team that has the most water in their bucket at the end of three minutes wins. Each group of kids was able to play the game twice.

Since I worked a station I didn't get to take pictures of the other games but I could tell by looking around that there were some really fun things going on. My kids said their favorite stations were mine (because I was there), the parachute game (Dakota) and a pirate game that I can't remember the name of (Harper). They also both enjoyed the indoor obstacle course and of course the Popsicles!
