Roatan, Honduras (Maya Key)

Since we'd never been to Honduras before we were really looking forward to this stop. We'd booked another beach day but they had a lot more in store for us than we knew! First of all, let me just say that the trees, plants and animals there are beautiful! It took us quite awhile to get from the transport boat to the beach area because we were admiring the natural beauty around us.

As we got closer to the beach area we noticed a bunch of cages with different kinds of animals. They told us that the animals were rescues and under their care until they were healed.

Since we'd had two days on the beach already I felt like exploring a bit instead of spending all my time in the water. My sister and I walked up to check out the Mayan ruins and found my mom and brother up there.

Landon wasn't feeling well that day and spent the whole time sleeping.

As with all of our excursions, lunch was provided. The food at this stop was particularly good and I loved the fried banana chips which was a surprise because I HATE bananas!

At one point Tony and I were sitting on one of the long beach chairs when suddenly there was a sharp thud on the chair. I looked down and there was a small coconut in the space between us! We'd been talking earlier that day about how more people die from a coconut hitting them in the head than shark attacks so we were shocked when this one fell directly between the small space on the seat between us! As you can see in the photo below, it was a very small one, but it was solid and would have hurt had it knocked one of us in the head!

Before leaving the island we found a path and decided to follow it and see what we found. What we found was breathtaking views of the sea and interesting (dangerous looking) cactus.

We also came across this really big hermit crab. It was too bad Harper wasn't with us as he would have loved to see it! I made a video for him though since he wasn't there. In the video and photo it's hard to tell how big it is but it was probably a little bigger than my fist, so pretty good size for a crab!
