Our fourth meeting was all about being a "savvy shopper". There were three fun stations set up and each station was designed to help the girls think about shopping in ways they likely never had before.
The first station was a mock grocery store. The girls were given lists, a couple (tiny) shopping carts and real groceries to purchase. They were shown coupons and encouraged to think about how to use them in order to save money while still getting everything on their list. They also learned a little about brand name versus non name brand, something I'm not sure any of them knew the difference between.
At the second station the girls were able to use adding machines to add up the cost of some birthday party supplies. They LOVED using the adding machines and Dakota has requested one for Christmas!
The third and final activity of the night was a chat with one of the girls moms who owns her own business. She is a realtor and was able to talk to the girls about the things people may look for when buying a home. They asked her all kinds of interesting questions and really liked hearing about her job.
