I know it's only February 27th but the weather here is nice today (58 degrees and sunny at the moment!) so I took a little stroll through our yard to see if there was any green popping up.
I'm not the best gardener(actually I'm terrible) and I don't even know what these green shoots are (daffodils?) but I was super excited when I came across them!
I'd really like to say I "worked in my garden" on a regular basis but that'd be lying. I always start off meaning well and then it gets hot and I am not about to stay sweaty all day just to work on my garden. But, my intentions are good.
Unfortunately, Tony isn't a great gardener either. He's kind of like me with the whole intentions thing. We want our yard to look nice but we'd rather it just happen on it's own while we did ANYTHING else. Case in point, this brick wall that collapsed last fall and has remained exactly like this since:
Just fix yourself, dammit. We don't have time for this!
Now, this next photo isn't terribly flattering but there is green and those aren't weeds, they're lambs ear sprouts. Lambs ear is great because it's hardy, spreads nicely and is soft as, well, a lambs ear.
And, here's a teeny tiny beginning of a hydrangea. This is the new one I planted between the two huge one's I already have and I'm so proud of it for living! Like I said, I'm not the best gardener so these things really gotta happen on their own for the most part.
This might be more lambs ear but honestly, we'll just have to wait and see.
More green shoots, these in the backyard. Fingers crossed that they're daffodils because I love daffodils! The best part about not being a good gardener is that I'm never let down by my garden. Every year is a surprise! I plant it and if it comes back again, it's a success...whatever it is.
Since I was alone during my little backyard tour I couldn't help but notice how noisy the birds were being. Even they know spring will be here eventually (they're just as stupidly positive as I am today) and are out there making all kids of noise about it. I heard owls, woodpeckers and lots of squawking singing; turn up your volume and you can hear it too!
