Vendor Fair at MACC

After Dakota finished working her time at the cookie booth we walked around the vendor fair a bit while we waited for the candy cane hunt.

We came across the cutest little owl when we walked by a booth called Echoes of Nature. He looks like he may have had too much coffee.

We found Elsa, from Frozen, making snow at a nearby table and visited with her a bit. She was really great with the kids and they enjoyed "making snow" with her.

Santa was there as well and surprisingly Harper wanted a picture with him. Dakota wasn't feeling very well and decided against having her picture with him.

The candy cane hunt began at 11:30 and we were out there a bit early to make sure we could stake out a good spot at the starting line. There were lots and lots of kids out there and the lady who put the hunt together said there were 4500 candy canes to be found! She also told us that there were a few golden candy canes to be found and that if you were lucky enough to get one you could bring it in for a prize. Right before the hunt began Harper told me he thought he saw one of those special candy canes and that he was going to run and get it as soon as she yelled go. And, as soon as she yelled go, he took off! That's him in the bright blue coat running ahead to the center of the field.

Lo and behold, he really did find a golden candy cane! I was really surprised! I don't know if he just got lucky by running to the center of the field first or if he really saw it ahead of time but either way he came away a winner!

He had the choice between a $100 gift certificate to Rolly Pollies, a $100 certificate to School of Rock, or a 5 gallon fish tank. He initially chose the Rolly Pollies card but I told him I didn't think we'd be able to use it since he's getting a bit old for that place and I know School of Rock is quite pricey once you get started so he and I agreed on the fish tank. Once he realized he got to bring the fish tank home and buy fish to put in it, he was super excited!

And, since Dakota hates being left out of things, she too wanted a photo with the fish tank. ;)
