Memorial Day Parade

Our local firehouse puts on a carnival and Memorial Day parade every year. This year Dakota's daisy scout troop got to march in the parade and you can probably imagine how excited the girls were! The parade didn't begin until 5 pm but they had to get there an hour early to get their place in line and whatnot. After dropping Dakota off in the care of her leaders, Tony, Harper and I went to meet Mema and find a spot on the sidewalk to wait for the parade to begin. I also asked my friend Lisa and her family if they wanted to go and they were happy to come and support her, so that was awesome.

The boys and Evie played in the grassy area near the firehouse while we waited for the parade to begin and a few minutes before 5 the roads were blocked off and the color guard began the parade.

Following them was a very long procession of firetrucks, some modern and others very old. The coolest one had to be the one that was simultaneously blowing fire AND bubbles though.

Some of the groups were throwing out candy and the kids absolutely loved running out to grab it. Dakota's troop was one of the groups throwing candy and when she saw us she threw some our way.

The parade was very short, only .2 miles, but the girls loved every (brief) minute of it! It ended right at the carnival so we took a picture of Dakota and the other girls with the banner and then headed to the car to change her clothes before going to have some fun at the carnival.
