My sweet, sweet Harper turned 8 today. Why eight seems so old I don't know, but it does. He and Colin (Colin's birthday is 8/2) celebrated their birthday here yesterday with a Game Truck and it was a great party!
Our party time was from 10-12 pm, a little earlier than I would have preferred but it ended up working out great. The guys from the game truck arrived about 40 minutes early to get their stuff set up and as soon as they were done our guests were arriving and the truck began to fill up. The guys asked me what their top 3 games were and I said Minecraft, MarioKart and Super Smash Bros. and they had those up and running as the kids entered. There are 5 large tv's so they also had Rocket League and Arms going.
As the kids grew bored of a game and wanted to change the guys helped them either join another area or set up something completely different if there was a space available. We limited their game choices to E (everyone) games but they offered all genre's; E, T for teen and M for mature. About an hour in Harper decided he needed a break from the noise and sat in the house for about 5 minutes and when he went back out and was fine the rest of the time. I think Colin played Super Smash nearly the entire time but Harper played that as well as Minecraft and a little Skylanders too.
Around 11:15 we got everyone out of the truck for a quick lunch, cake and ice cream. Lisa brought her tent for shade and I threw some blankets out for the kids to have their lunch picnic style since I only have 1 picnic table.
Lisa and I both made cakes and per the boys' requests they were both Minecraft related. Harper wanted a pig and Colin wanted a creeper. I thought my cake was horrendous but Harper loved it and was super happy that I'd made what he requested.
As I looked through my camera roll I saw that Harper purposely had his eyes closed in every picture. He can be such a turd sometimes!
After eating their cake and ice cream the kids jumped back on the truck for a little more game time until their parents came back to get them. It was a great time and a fun party. I can't believe our boys are 8!!!
