Life Size Candy Land

Last Thursday night we all went to the new Discoveries: Library at the Mall for a program they were having called Life Size Candy Land. When I saw it advertised I thought it sounded like a fun free activity and signed us up.

I knew they were putting a library in the mall but hadn't been in so I wanted to see what it was like as well. I was really surprised with how small it was but since we weren't there to gather up a ton of books to read it didn't really matter.

So basically there were colored squares taped to the floor and the librarian spun a wheel with coordinating spaces and whichever color the pointer landed on was the color the child advanced to. There were about 10 kids playing so it took a long time for their turn to come back around again but the all of the kids did really well taking turns and waiting. There were some special squares on the floor as well like candy canes, chocolate bars and gummy bears and if the kids landed on that square or passed it they were given a few pieces of candy that matched the square and that was a huge hit, of course!

I was a little worried the kids were too old for the whole thing but they surprised me by having fun with it and I think they both really enjoyed themselves. The candy certainly didn't hurt. :)
