Waugh Chapel Trick or Treat Night

Last Friday night the kids got to do their first trick-or-treat event when we went to Waugh Chapel center. We go every year and it's another reason for them to wear their (overpriced) costumes. This year was a bit of a fiasco because it was the Friday of our girl scout meeting and originally we were going to meet up, take a group photo and then go trick-or-treating together but with rain in the forecast the majority of the gs troop decided to meet at our regular meeting place and do trick-or-treating there instead. I had a heck of a time deciding what to do and ended up letting Dakota make the decision to go to the gs meeting or trick-or-treat (potentially in the rain). She chose doing what we always do so we took our chances and met up with our friends for some fun.

Here's Violet:

And, here's Slenderman:

Slenderman was really unhappy with me because I made him wear shoes and he felt like it ruined his costume but I told him he HAD to wear shoes and he nearly let it ruin his night. Luckily, on the car ride over, he got over it and ended up having a great time, even with those dang darn shoes on.

The other characters we walked around with were (from left) Wyatt as Luigi, Colin as a Creeper from Minecraft and Evelyn was Minnie Mouse. As you can see it was cold enough out that we needed heavy coats and gloves but luckily it only sprinkled for a minute or two while we were out there. It did end up raining pretty hard later that evening though.

The shopping center wasn't nearly as crowded as in years past and we were able to hit most stops easily. Dakota pretty much stuck with Evie the entire time while the boys stayed together and were always ahead of us.

After trick-or-treating we split up and while our friends went to another area for more candy, we headed in to Applebee's for our traditional Halloween dinner. I really love this little tradition we have going and am glad it was what we ended up doing. I feel guilty missing scouts (it's different now that I'm a co-leader, I feel obligated to do what they do) but am thankful we were able to do this once again.

April Fools Pranks

The two little kids made me laugh yesterday morning.  I was upstairs getting things ready for school when I heard them talking about how ...
