A Fantastic Fourth

Since dad just got back from a 4 month long work trip, we all met up in Virginia for this year’s 4th of July celebration. There ended up being 17 of us there, and it was a great party! The kids enjoyed each other’s company and the adults were happy to just relax and talk.

Around 8:30 or so we decided to get outside and get started lighting our fireworks. We had way more than last year, and it took us nearly two hours to get through them!

Doesn’t my dad look like a kid in a candy shop in this picture?

Kid in a candy shop!

Here’s the beginning of our little show…most of them looked very similar to this, so I will spare you the rest of the photos!

TNT!

But, from where we were, we could also see some that looked like this!

Lit up!

Tony and I found what looked like a really cool grand finale this year! It was called a cascading waterfall…he and Landon waited patiently for the last few fountains to die out before they lit it up. They actually had a bit of an argument about who was going to get to light it!

The boys and their box!

Notice all the smoke? We had to keep moving in order to breathe! Anyways, here’s the best shot of our “grand” finale!

Cascading waterfall or box on fire?

It just looks like a box on fire with a lot of smoke! Next year we’ll stick with the free finale that comes with the package we buy! The guy who sold it to us said it would look just like a waterfall. I guess we got suckered this year! LOL!

After the lame waterfall ending, we discovered a forgotten firecracker…but we decided to keep it until next year!

Landon the little firecracker!

Looks like a great time! We did our own fireworks in the street too. They were kind of lame after seeing the city's big production over the water... :-)
