This morning I took Harper to a free Gymboree class. I loved taking Landon when he was little, and I thought Harper would probably really enjoy it since he’s at the age where he just loves to climb all over everything. He woke up pretty early this morning (thanks, stupid time change!) and he was ready for a nap at 7am, so I wasn’t too sure the whole Gymboree thing was going to be such a great idea, but I made him stay awake until the 9:15 class anyways with the hopes that he’d just take a really great afternoon nap.
He fell asleep in the car on the way. I made every effort to keep him awake with snacks, no blanket and a slight breeze coming in the car window, but he still managed to conk out at some point. But, I still wanted to get him in there and see how it went, so I woke him up and in we went.
Apparently my boy only needs a quick snooze because he was in a good mood despite the quick nap and the minute he saw all the climbing equipment his face lit up like I’ve never seen before. It was like a look of disbelief…like he hit the jackpot. Once we got in the play area, he acted like he owned the place. He went over and under and through every obstacle they had out. He bounced and kicked and threw the balls. He ran and walked and crawled on the mats. He giggled and laughed and screamed with delight.
He had an amazing time and he was very fun to watch. I didn’t bring my camera because I wanted to focus on what he was doing and not worry about getting shots of everything. It was nice not having to worry about my camera and just soaking up the moment. And, besides, if I sign him up for the classes, I’ll have lots of photo opportunities! :)
