Tony and I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day tonight. We usually celebrate either the weekend before or after the actual day just because we don’t want to have to wait for a table at a restaurant the night of! I guess that’s another sign of us getting old…or, we’re just smart like that.
We’ve been going to Red Lobster for our V-Day dinner for the past few years and decided we’d try the newest one by our house this year. We’ve had our ups and downs with them and thought we’d see if this one was better than the other two we’ve been to. The food was really good, but even though we managed to get to the restaurant by 5pm (trying to beat the weekend rush) we still had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. We have become early eaters since having kids and usually that means immediate seating, so we were both surprised we had to wait. It was nice getting to spend some alone time with my honey, and it’s always sweet to sit and eat and chat with someone you love…without interruptions!
After dinner we decided to grab some coffee (for him) and hot cocoa (for me) at a nearby Starbucks. We sat in comfy chairs sipping our hot drinks while playing Words with Friends with each other on our iPads. (Just for the record, Tony doesn’t have an iPad, he has one of these, but I don’t know what to call it so I just call it an iPad!)
I guess our night wasn’t all that exciting, but I couldn’t think of anywhere else I’d have rather have been and I’m really thankful that my mother-in-law is able (and happy) to come over and hang with the kids so that we can have a few hours to enjoy each other’s company.
