Christmas Eve 2017

Zoe and Brandon came up early on Christmas Eve so that we could bake some fresh sugar cookies for Santa. We used a new recipe this year, one that called for cream cheese, and the cookies tasted pretty good. Zoe and I put the dough together and then Harper and Dakota helped to cut them out. Once all the shapes were cut, we all decorated them before throwing them in the oven. (It's easier for the kids to decorate this way than to use icing, AND I didn't have to buy or make icing which was also a good thing.)

We had just enough time to get the cookies made and baked before we headed over to Mema and Umpa's house for Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange.

Later that evening when we got home we got the little kids ready for bed, let them put out cookies and milk for Santa, sprinkle reindeer food on the grass, read a few last Christmas stories and while they settled in for sleep, we played the card game Oregon Trail.

We didn't have any gifts left to wrap and it was nice to relax and play a game instead of fret over last minute wrapping. It was a wonderful Christmas Eve and everyone was looking forward to the next morning. And, the game was fun, if you're wondering.
