My kit this year came with some overlays and I thought this one was a nice way to start my book. I've never written a "my reason why" page before either, so this was a new idea for me. I'm not too sure I'll do that every year though because I imagine it would become quite redundant.
I knew my day 1 page was only going to be a half page so I included this cute little calendar that I found online. It doesn't really serve any purpose other than taking up otherwise unused space.
Day one was about our elf showing up and bringing Lego Advent calendars with her.
Day 2 was about a candy cane hunt in the morning and celebrating Zoe's 23rd birthday in the afternoon. We went to the Iron Rooster and I had my first ever chicken & waffles. The tag covers a bit of a 4x6 photo of us that we had the waitress take at the restaurant.
When you flip over the 4x6 family shot there is a photo from our trip to Ice! which I made into a shaker by adding plastic stars and other small shapes and then sealing the top with washi tape. The following page is about our day there and I finally got to use my Rudolph stamp! I've had that stamp for years and finally used it.
Day 4 my Kota was home sick from school. I still wanted to get my workout in though so she happily played on my iPad while I ran on the elliptical. When you see both pages you see I've done a bit of journaling on a half circle. I've written there about my weight loss over the year and behind it is just a photo of my legs/shoes in the fall leaves which is page 5.
Page 6 is about Landon beginning his new job at Chick-Fil-A. Hard to believe he's old enough for that already.
Day 7 begins with a tag and a photo of the two little's on Santa's lap. When you flip the tag over there is a photo of my grandson Isaac meeting Santa for the first time.
Day 8 school was closed for parent teacher conferences and then we all went to lunch at The Red Parrot to celebrate the kids doing a good job at school. Between day 8 and 9 I used another transparency, this one covered in white stars. I just added the cork circle right to the transparency.
There were some printed wooden circles included in this years December Daily kits and I just used my markers to give it some color and topped the center tree with a big silver star.
Day 9 was about going to a birthday party at the skating rink.
Day 10 I spent at Zoe's house baking cookies. I wasn't able to add everything I wanted to the four slots so I inserted another tag between the pages. I didn't want to forget to record how nice it was for Zoe to grab me a hot cocoa when she went out to get her and Brandon a coffee.
Day eleven is about my Harps and how hard he works in school. Definitely worth recording. The journaling is on the backside of the tag I created for the hot cocoa.
Day 12 is about restringing lights, inside on the trees and outside on the house. It was a very bad year when it came to lights going out. I really like the little tree I created on the edge of the page where Tony is rehanging the outside lights. I had tons of stars and stuff to use and this felt like a fun way to use them up.I stamped and cut out the string of lights on that photo as well. The Twinkle, Twinkle, Twinkle, Twinkle is a clear transparency from this years kit.
