So, the appetizer was called French Quarter Cheese Spread. The picture in the cook book looked appetizing and when I saw the name I knew I had to make it since my friend Lisa had just been to New Orleans the week before. (It just felt meant to be!) It was very simple to make and was absolutely delicious! Lisa and I couldn't quit eating it! We served Sociables with it and yum! I'll definitely be making this one again!
For dessert I made Better Than Sex Cake II. It was a super simple and delicious recipe! It's light and fluffy but the toffee bars give it a very satisfying crunch. A total dessert win!
First you bake the cake, let it cool for a few minutes and then cut some slits across the top.
Next, you heat the sweetened condensed milk and caramel over medium heat for a few minutes and then pour it over the cake where it seeps down through the slits.
Then you add the crushed toffee. I wasn't even sure if we liked toffee so I bought an extra bar for us all to taste and the consensus was that we all did indeed like toffee!
Once it's completely cooled you add a layer of cool whip and then additional crushed toffee and some caramel drizzle.
Simple, beautiful and delicious!
