Scout Crafts

A good chunk of last weekend was spent working on scout stuff. Harper had begun working on his boat for the upcoming Raingutter Regatta, but it needed finishing so he worked on that while I helped Dakota start work on her sit upon bucket.

This is Harper's finished product, the S.S. Falcon:

I went to JoAnn Fabric and bought all kinds of stuff for Dakota's bucket because I wasn't sure exactly what we were going to end up doing. She and I set to work painting it first, but after two coats realized it was not going to end up looking very nice. The paint chipped off at the slightest bump and it wasn't covering evenly. After a debate about sitting and scraping off  the paint vs. buying a new bucket my laziness set in and I decided to just go out and get a new one.

After two trips to Lowes I was able to get her a new bucket to start over with. They were under $4, so it wasn't a big deal to just scrap that first idea. The second time we started with vinyl and my trusty, rusty Cricut machine. We also used some ombre glitter duck tape and rhinestone stickers to dress it up. Dakota wanted some frill, so we added some extremely girly ruffled ribbon to the top and all over the handle. She couldn't have been more excited about her bucket!

Can you tell this is her first time using the glue gun?

The leaders are turning the lids into padded seats and we'll be getting those on the morning of her camping trip. I can't wait to see how those lids turned out!
