Vacation 2018, The Beginning

We got home from vacation two days ago and I'm just now feeling like I have a few minutes to sit and try to write about it. I always have a hard time blogging about vacation because there is so much to tell and so many great photo's to share but, I'll do my best. So, beginning with the day we left, July 14th...

We had an early afternoon flight from here to Fort Lauderdale which meant we had to be at the airport around 10/10:30 am. The van that was taking us to the airport showed up around 9 am and we began the task of loading up. Getting nine people and all their luggage into a van is no easy task!

We had quite awhile to wait around for our flight so we all grabbed lunch and then went and sat until they called us for boarding. The flight itself was easy peasy and we were in Florida within two hours time. Once we had all of our luggage we called the hotel shuttle to pick us up and take us to our hotel where we'd spend one night before leaving on our cruise the next day.

My mom, dad and brother had flown into to Fort Lauderdale an hour or two before us and were waiting at the hotel when we got there. My sister, nephew and his girlfriend all drove down together and arrived at the hotel maybe an hour or so after we did. It was wonderful seeing every one again! We hung out downstairs while our rooms were getting ready (check in wasn't until 4) and as soon as everyone had a room we headed out to find somewhere to eat dinner. There was a shopping center and restaurants within walking distance from the hotel and somehow our walk turned into a conga line which made for a fun photo...

We ended up picking a Mexican restaurant called La Bamba. Everyone in my family enjoys Mexican food AND they had huge tables outside for large groups so it seemed a good choice. The food was tasty and we enjoyed sitting and catching up with one another.

From the left, front: LaTisha, Dakota, Tony, Dad, Kyle, Brandon, Harper, Alexis (Jaron's girlfriend) Jaron, Zoe, Landon, Mema, Me and my Mom. Umpa preferred to stay at the hotel and rest while we were out.

As soon as we got back to the hotel we all got into our swimsuits and went out to enjoy the pool.

The hotel has happy hour and we made sure to hit that as well! Bahama Mama was very popular with our group!

We ended up getting to bed relatively early but we were all exhausted from traveling and were ready to cross the first day of vacation off our list.
