Author’s Tea

Today was the second grade’s “Author’s Tea”. Every child in the second grade created a “bare book” (a blank book, topic chosen by teacher/grade) that they read to us today. Zoe did this back when she was in elementary school, and Landon has done one for each grade level so far.

The picture on the left makes me laugh a little because he is looking over at his dad making sure he is paying attention! I know that look!

The second graders wrote books about being environmentally responsible. Landon’s book was all about water conservation and ways to prevent water pollution. His book turned out great, and the picture’s he drew inside were awesome too. I do admit that we did help him find material online at home, but he came up with the idea for the book, and wrote everything in his own words.

After the books were read, the kids came around and had the adults and classmates sign their books, and then it was pizza party/class picnic time and then they headed out to the playground.

We had a great time!

Maybe once I get the book, I’ll post it here for all to see! I’m thinking Landon would just love that!

Looking forward to Landon's book! Is this his last week of school?

Sounds like a good project. Since we homeschool I had William enter the PBS Young Readers contest. It's nice to see children get so creative.

I can't wait to see the book too!
