After taking Landon to his UVB treatment this morning, the kids and I spent hours and hours playing in the back yard. They were so happy back there that 2 1/2 hours had passed before I knew it and it was lunch time.
I did a thorough cleaning of the sandbox and we ended up playing in there for a good 45 minutes. I pulled all the toys out and raked out the leaves and even sprinkled some cinnamon in the sand to see if it really helps keep the ants out. Only time will tell if the cinnamon works to keep the ants at bay and in the meantime I’ll enjoy the kids smelling like cinnamon when we’re out there digging in the dirt!
Dakota was initially hesitant to sit in the box and spent most of her time trying to keep her hands and feet from touching it, but once she saw me bury Harper’s feet, she wanted to try it out too.
When we were done in the sand Harper drove us away on his ship to “pirate island”.
We hung out with the pirates for a little bit and then it was time for Dakota to do some swinging.
I was going to move some rocks in the yard but when I flipped one over and saw this monster on the back, I changed my mind.
I don’t know what the hell it is but if it wants that rock, it can have it.
After all the time we spent down in the yard, the kids were ready to head up to the deck to play in the gazebo. I took it as an opportunity to clean it up a bit, and got it looking pretty nice in there. When I finished cleaning up the kids were still happily playing so I took the opportunity to sit and read news and stuff on my iPad! What an awesome 20 minute luxury!!
I knew it was time to go inside when the two kids both started melting down for no apparent reason. I’d flat worn their butts out. Harper came in and climbed up on the couch and looked at books while Dakota quietly played with her baby dolls. It was so nice and peaceful! Here’s to more warm mornings spent in the yard!
