On the Ball, Spinny

In an effort to keep the kids busy I've been taking them to the library on a weekly basis. The library offers different shows/activities for their summer reading program and on Monday we went to see a former Harlem Globetrotter, Spencer Johnson, work his magic with a basketball.

When he started calling volunteers up to try different basketball moves both of my kids were like, No Way! But, after seeing what kinds of things he was asking, Harper got brave and volunteered! I was very surprised but up he went and he did great!

Dakota still refused to go up when he called for volunteers but she kept saying she really wanted to go! She was so conflicted! When he wasn't asking for kids or adults to come up and try things he was showing us a little bit of what he did as a Globe Trotter. He was also using his time to remind the kids to be respectful and kind to one another as well as talk about the importance of exercise and athleticism. It was a great way to spend an hour out of the heat, and both kids enjoyed the show!
