The girls started out by arranging food baskets for families in need of a holiday meal. The baskets had everything a family of 4-6 might want or need like a ham or turkey, potatoes, dinner rolls, vegetables, stuffing, yams, gravy, butter, milk, eggs and even pie. The girls were able to feed 15 area families and watching that all come together was very humbling.
Once the food baskets were taken care of they were split into three groups (we have a HUGE troop of 24 girls) and began their stations. They made gingerbread houses, coupon books to give as gifts and each girl made a really cute Daisy scout inspired ornament for their tree at home.
Dakota's favorite part, of course, was making her gingerbread house and she did a wonderful job on it! It was a bit of a crunch getting all of that done in one night with so many girls but it was a success because so many mom's stayed to help out. I'm looking forward to seeing what other fun things are in store for her and her friends this coming year.
