We were up bright and early and after throwing all our junk in the van we were on the road a little after 7 am. We stopped for breakfast and got on the highway only to get about 20 minutes down the road before coming to a complete stop because of an accident. We didn't worry too much as it is par for the course in our overly congested area but we ended up sitting at a dead stop for about an hour and 20 minutes. It was a long wait but as we drove by the crash site we saw just how awful the accident had been and were thankful that it hadn't been us in that disaster.
The rest of our drive up was uneventful and smooth and we got to our hotel sometime after 5. We are up on the 12th floor and we have an enormous three bedroom condo that looks out over the ocean.
After unloading the van we walked down to Angelo's Steak and Pasta for dinner.
The kids and I opted for pasta dishes but Tony ordered a steak and his was definitely the better choice. We stopped at a Dairy Queen for some ice cream and then headed back to the hotel so that the kids could swim in the pool for a little bit.
While the kids played made up games in the pool and lazy river, Tony and I treated ourselves to a night time drink and then we walked down to the ocean for a few minutes before coming in for the evening. Our friends will be driving down tomorrow as well as Aunt TT and Jaron who are going to stay with us for a couple of days; I'm looking forward to lots of fun this week!
