Seahawk Invitational

Landon had his first cross country meet on Saturday. He had to be at the school by 6:45 am and the bus headed out at 7. Around 8:30 he texted me to let me know he'd be running his heat around 10 am, so by 9 we were all in the car and driving out to the school where the race was. When we left our house it wasn't raining but as we pulled up to the field we could see that it'd been raining there for quite awhile. All the runners were soaked and covered in mud. We saw a kid using a water hose to try to get some of the mud off  as well as some kids using a big puddle to try to clean up. (It was very cold out, only in the 50's).

This was a huge invitational and there were many schools attending so we had a little bit of trouble finding Landon at first. We walked towards the track thinking they'd be there but found that there was a field hockey game going on. We ended up walking almost completely around the school (while it was POURING rain) before finding him and as soon as we walked up he informed us the rest of the meet had been cancelled. Ugh.

So, the kids and I made our way back to the van to while Tony and Landon found the coach to let her know we were leaving. He has two meets this week, one on Wednesday that we won't be able to catch and another on Saturday that I'm not sure we'll be able to make either. He's been working so hard this year though so I am determined to make it out as often as possible to cheer him on!
