Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida

After the cruise we stayed in Fort Lauderdale for a few days. Tony had the time to use and we figured why not spend a few days down there before flying home? So, we booked a couple rooms at the Courtyard Marriott.

We were off the boat pretty early that morning which wasn't the best thing because our room wasn't going to be ready at the hotel until 4 pm. We figured we'd find things to do and keep busy but honestly we were so tired that we ended up sitting near the little dining area inside the hotel mindlessly playing our iPads. Usually I'd never let the kids or myself play as long as we did that day but desperate times call for desperate measures and all that.

Around noon we went to eat at a nearby restaurant called Ocean Bleau. It didn't look like much from the outside, and since we weren't looking for anything "much" we decided to give it a try. It turned out to be really good food with terrific view of the ocean from any table. The burgers were HUGE, so either share or go in super hungry! We would definitely eat there again given the chance. We sat inside as it was quite hot out and Tony and I swore we could still feel the movement of the ship when we stood up! That is such a strange sensation, especially after being on such a large ship that rocking was hardly ever felt!

The kids. Mema and Umpa were happy to go straight back to their games after lunch but Landon, Tony and I decided to take a walk out to see the water instead. I was pleasantly surprised with how clear it was! Not as clear as what we'd seen on our trips to the islands, but pretty nice nonetheless!

We got our room a few hours earlier than expected and our view out to the ocean couldn't be beat! The only thing that would have made it better would have been a balcony.

After settling into our room we got changed and went down to the beach for a little bit. It wasn't but maybe 5 minutes later that the sky got dark and we went back to the hotel to wait out the rain. The weather seems to change within mere minutes down there!

Since there wasn't thunder or lightening the kids asked to swim in the hotel pool and we figured why not? Unfortunately it started to thunder not long after they got in so we headed in to change and get ready for dinner.

We decided to give Coconuts a try as it was right behind our hotel. It was another restaurant that didn't seem like much but the food was TERRIFIC! It is a bit on the expensive side but the seafood was fresh and the service was great. 10 out of 10!

The weather was back to gorgeous after dinner so we took a walk along the beach where the kids tried to climb the palm trees.

The kids ended up in the pool again that night. I didn't know it then but we'd be spending MANY hours out on that pool deck watching those two crazies jump in the pool over and over and over again. We finally drug them out of the pool and into the shower around 9 that night. Then, because it's summer and the livin' is easy, we let them watch TV until 10 pm. That's super late for kids who typically go to bed by 7:30 pm!

We had two rooms, one for Tony, myself and the two little kids and another with Landon, Mema and Umpa. It worked out okay that way but it just seems really weird when Landon isn't with us. He's a trooper though and did just fine.

April Fools Pranks

The two little kids made me laugh yesterday morning.  I was upstairs getting things ready for school when I heard them talking about how ...
