XOXO

A very simple 2 pager about Landon's Valentine's Day party. He was so happy to pass out his pink playdough! The class played a game of pin the nose on the heart after they had all finished eating and because Landon was last to go, he got to spin the teacher around before she tried to pin the nose on the heart! He was thrilled that he got the job!

Zoe's 13th {2007}

For some reason I forgot to scrap Zoe's 13th birthday photos. I didn't realize it until I went to put her 14th b-day pages in her album and the 13th was missing! So, I finally got these pictures in her book. It was such a nice, low key birthday. Family came over and we had cake and ice cream, opened gifts and then we showed Zoe the slide show I put together for her. The slide show was a conglomeration of people's thoughts and feelings about Zoe's early years as well as what we all remember about our teen years and advice we thought was appropriate. It turned out pretty cool, and I think she appreciated it...maybe not as much as that coat she wanted, but in time the slide show will win!

Happy Birthday!

IMG_2898

I just wanted to send out a big Happy Birthday to my mom! I hope you have a wonderful day...in other words, I hope the people at work aren't too annoying and someone other than you will do the dishes tonight! What more could you ask for, right? LOL! Love you!

What Makes You Happy

IMG_3164

What makes Zoe happy? Sometimes I don't have any idea, but I do know that she LOVES snow. She always has, well almost always! I remember when she was about 2 years old we had a huge snowstorm and she wasn't exactly fond of it at that point. She could barely move with all those layers of clothing on, so for her it probably wasn't all that great! But, she has grown quite fond of it since then. When she was around 7 or 8 years old she and her friend down the street would spend hours out in it making snowmen, igloos, snow angels, running up and down the streets on sleds...just loving every single minute of it! And still, to this day, she loves to get out in the snow!

Gingerbread House

Landon's first grade class made little gingerbread houses out of milk carton's, graham crackers, frosting and all sorts of candies. It was such a fun project and his classroom smelled like a chocolate factory! It was hard not to eat all those candies!

My Little Helper

This morning I did NOT want to get out of bed...and I didn't get up right away, so I was running a little behind this morning. Landon on the other hand woke up early so he was way ahead of me. He got up, got dressed, brushed his teeth and made his bed, just like always. But, when I came out of my bathroom, he had also made my bed! I was so impressed, and I thought it was incredibly sweet of him! He was really proud of himself too! He explained to me that he had to go from one side to the other several times to get the job done, but that he wanted to help me since I was running behind. While I was gathering up all the laundry to drag downstairs he ran down ahead of me and got out his Zyrtec and vitamins and took those and then got the dog some food and water! Sometime's it's hard to believe he's only 7...

Weekend Recap

We tend to eat dinner out every Friday night. It is generally the only night of the week that we don't cook, so we are always looking for new places to go. We decided it had been long enough since our last visit to The Cheesecake Factory, so that's where we headed. We got there just before 5 so that we would miss the crowds and that turned out to be the perfect time, because we didn't have any wait time whatsoever!! The food was great, and I won't even begin to talk about the cheesecake, but man that is one loud restaurant!

Saturday morning I got up and finished packing for my day of scrapping at Kim's house. Dawn picked me up and we got out to Kim's around 11. After a couple hours we decided to check out a scrapbook store that's just up the road from Kim' and I am already trying to plan my next trip out there! It was so nice, and they had so many things that the store near here doesn't carry. I didn't get home from Kim's until about 7, but when I got home there was a big surprise waiting for me! Tony had decided to clear out our bedroom closet, take all the shelves out, patch/sand/paint all before I got home!! It was great! We had to get up Sunday and put the 2nd coat of paint on and re-hang the shelves, but it is looking so much better already! I can't wait until it's finished.

After working on the closet for most of the morning and afternoon on Sunday we didn't do much else (there wasn't any time left!). Tony had a soccer game at 5pm and then he and I met with 4 other couples for dinner at Sakura's. We had such a great time, we all laughed so much and our cook was awesome! He just had a funny personality and kept us going throughout the entire dinner. I think next month we are planning on something a little less expensive and someone mentioned Cracker Barrel. I haven't been there since last summer, so that sounds good to me, but the closest one to us is about an hour away so we'll see!

Big Daddy Falls {2006}

The pictures are from our trip to Water Country USA in 2006. Big Daddy Falls is one of the slides that 4 people can ride down together on and even Landon was big enough for it! These pictures make me want to go back, it really was a nice park and so much fun! Thank goodness for water cameras!

A Whole New Meaning...

Tony sent me an e-mail this morning with this article attached. It sure gives a whole new meaning to the term "booty call".

Then, I got this e-mail from my mom this morning...

A woman was in town on a shopping trip. She began her day finding the most perfect shoes in the first shop and a beautiful dress on sale in the second. In the third everything had just been reduced by 50 percent when her cell phone rang. It was a female doctor notifying her that her husband had just been in a terrible car accident and was in critical condition and in the ICU.The woman asked the doctor to inform her husband where she was and that she'd be there as soon as possible. As she hung up she realized she was leaving what was shaping up to be her best day ever in the boutiques. She decided to hit a couple of more shops before heading to the hospital.
She ended up shopping the rest of the morning, finishing her trip with a cup of coffee and a slice of yummy chocolate cake, compliments of the last shop.

She was jubilant.

Then she remembered her husband. Feeling guilty, she dashed to the
hospital. She saw the doctor in the corridor and asked about her
husband's condition. The lady doctor glared at her and shouted, 'You went ahead and finished your shopping trip didn't you!? I hope you're proud of yourself! While you were out for the past four hours enjoying yourself in town, your husband has been languishing in the Intensive Care Unit! It's just as well you went ahead and finished, because it will more than likely be the last shopping trip you ever take! For the rest of his life he will require round the clock care. And taking care of him will now be your career!

The woman was feeling so guilty she broke down and sobbed.
The lady doctor then chuckled and said, 'I'm just pulling your leg. He's dead. Show me what you bought.

I love getting e-mail's like this! Nothing like a good chuckle at 7am to get your day going!

Valentine Party and Goodies

Landon's Valentine's Day party at school was a big success. All of the kids really enjoyed passing out their Valentine's as well as looking at all the little cards they each received. All of his classmates really liked the pink play dough, and they were really impressed that Landon had made it himself, they just couldn't believe it! After they all had their "healthy heart" food (grapes, pretzels, popcorn, carrot sticks, you get the idea) they all played Pin the Nose on the Heart Face. They had such a great time playing this game and they thought it was hilarious when the heart nose was way off!

IMG_3129 IMG_3130

I finally finished making my Valentine's cards for the kids and Tony, but I was really pushing it, especially with Tony's...I literally just finished it a few minutes ago! This week was just not conducive to craftiness, sometimes it just goes that way I guess. Any ways, here are the three cards I put together:

IMG_3140

For the kids, just some stamped hearts on little circles. Inside the card Tony and I included 3 little coupons each...one for a night to go get ice cream, stay up an extra 1/2 hour at night, extra 1/2 hour on AIM etc..an idea I got from this blogger. Her's are much cuter, but since I waited till the last minute, it is what it is!

IMG_3142

This is the one I made for Tony. Simple, but I really like the way it looks. No special coupons inside for him, but I did write a little thank you for being an awesome husband note inside. Sometimes I forget how good I have it and I need a holiday to remind me to let someone know how much I appreciate and love them. So,Tony, Zoe and  Landon, I love you all,  Happy Valentines Day!

Oh yeah, the idea for this card was from the PaperCrafts Jan/Feb 2009 issue, pg. 23!

Here is the Valentine's Day poster the kids made for Tony and I. I thought it was great that they were able to work together on something without fighting! Those of you with kids know that sometimes that is nothing short of a miracle!

Pink Playdough Valentines

IMG_3120Tonight we finally made time to get Landon's Valentine's Day stuff together. Good thing considering tomorrow is the party! A few weeks ago Landon and I were brainstorming ideas for little Valentines gifts and we finally settled on pink play dough with little heart shaped cookie cutters. IMG_3112 The recipe for the dough was one I had from when I worked in daycare. It's a really easy, no cook recipe that kids practically do themselves. The only part I wouldn't let him do alone was boiling the water and working the initial color into the dough. Food coloring is just way too messy.  Zoe ended up getting in on some of the fun too, and she even thought about making a batch for her friends (yes, she's 14) but we were out of salt, so it didn't work out. I also picked up some Transformers Valentines cards and Landon filled them out and then we just tied the cookie cutter to the bag and stapled on the card...

When I originally posted this I forgot to post that this idea came from a fellow blogger!!! I like to give credit where credit is due, so please go here to see where I get some great inspiration! Sorry Amanda!

Be Mine Luv Bug

IMG_3102

IMG_3110

I found this paper that looked like Valentine's Day cards the kids would give out and I had to have it! I knew the minute I saw it that I wanted to do 2 pages like these with it, and waa laa! I've seen people using these round flowers a lot lately so I thought I would give it a try and I am really happy with the results!

Say Cheeeeese!

IMG_3037

No, nothing is wrong with your eyes...the top photo is a little blurry! And, yes Landon is in the picture, he's just laying on the back of the couch throwing up some bunny ears on Aunt TT and Lorenzo!Yesterday we drove to VA to visit with everyone and catch Jaron's basketball game. One of mom's sisters requested that we take a family photo and send it to her, so I ended up taking over a hundred photo's of all of us yesterday! Individual families, all of us together, just the kids...it adds up! Here are some favorites:

Summer 2006

IMG_2815

These are photos of all of us having a fun time at the Fort Jackson water park in 2006. It doesn't feel like that long ago, I suppose time just flies! I have seen many layouts with ribbon suns and for some reason I thought I would try it out on this page. It turned out ok, but I am going to have to try it again sometime because I think it could be better.

Lil' Gymnast

This past Saturday a few friends and I spent the day scrapping. Nothing big, just 4 of us, but we had a great time. I only got 4 pages done, and I'm not really happy with one of them so I guess that means I really only finished 3! Any ways, as usual I hadn't printed pictures to work on, so I had to pull some old ones out of a box to do. These photos are of Landon stretching and playing at his gymnastics class...back in 2004! Yeah, you read that right. The little guy was only 3 years old! Oh-well, at least its done! I'll post another one tomorrow!

April Fools Pranks

The two little kids made me laugh yesterday morning.  I was upstairs getting things ready for school when I heard them talking about how ...
