2nd Set Absolutely Free!

Our family schedule is pretty hectic at times, and during the week we rarely have down time; at least not until after 8pm or so when Landon goes to bed. After school for us includes homework, soccer practice/games, dinner and then maybe an hour of "free" time. My kids don't typically use this time to watch TV except when they are just too tired to do anything else. So, the only time Landon really watches any TV is in the morning for about half an hour before school. I am beginning to wonder if this is too much! I mean it's really not the shows so much as the commercials! In the past couple of weeks Landon has informed me that:

  • he would like about 15 different sets of car tracks that he keeps seeing on TV. One of them is even designed for a really young child (3+) but Landon seems to think he NEEDS this toy. He doesn't even play with cars or tracks! Never really has.
  • if Tony loses his job, there is a guy on TV that will give him a second chance. WTH? I cannot figure out what this commercial is (I DVR everything, so I never see commercials!) but Landon is convinced that should Tony ever lose his job, this guy will help him! Is it really that easy? You just call him up, he speaks with your employer, you get the 2nd chance? Landon says it is...
  • if you buy one set of Aqua Globes, you get the 2nd set absolutly free! This one really made us laugh because yesterday I came home with a box of these, Landon of course spotted them and said "Mom, did you know you can get another box of those for free?". Tony and I just thought it was hilarious! Landon didn't think it was so funny, after all, the guy on TV said you would get a second set free! He probably thinks I am such a loser for only getting one set when I could have gotten two.

These are all examples of things he is taking in and he only watches TV for about 1/2 an hour a day! I cannot imagine the crap we would hear if he watched more!

It's beginning to look a lot like...

Christmas! Ok, not really, but I did start my holiday card's and here is the first one I came up with! IMG_0995

two fall turkeys

IMG_1000 I am pretty sure that I already scrapped these pictures, but I was too lazy to check, so I just went ahead and scrapped them again anyways! I love these pictures of the kids, they really do love to play in the leaves! The turkey, fall leaves tag and 4 leaf brads are from my auction winnings, compliments of Amanda (who, along with another scrapper friend) just opened her own Etsy shop. So, stop by and see what they've got!

too cute to Spook

In my effort to scrap some older pictures I have, I used a recent auction win to create this page. It sure was easy to put together with all these little elements! Thanks Rebecca!

Feasting at the Fest!

We sure know how to pack a lot in in a weekend! Friday afternoon we went and watched Zoe's soccer game at her school, then went home and rested for 5 minutes before heading to Landon's school for movie night. Basically, all the kids bring blankets, wear their pj's and watch a movie on the floor of the cafeteria/gym. It was ok, but laying on the floor was painful!

IMG_0876 Saturday morning started with Landon's very first soccer game of the season. After his game we had a quick lunch at Three Brothers, then went back to the field for Zoe's 2:30 game. During Zoe's game someone stepped on her toe and she has a nasty looking bruised toe now, and it has been really painful for her to walk on. I think she may end up losing her toenail.

Sunday we went to the Maryland Renaissance Festival with my parents and Jaron. We had such a great time! All of the shows we saw were excellent, we just laughed and laughed it seemed the whole day! Our only complaint was that some show's didn't use microphones so we couldn't hear very well. Other than that we ate some yummy food and just enjoyed the crazy atmosphere. The slideshow I made is rather large, but there were so many great shots that I didn't want to leave any out!

Lost in the Maize

IMG_0825 This one's for you Amanda...I told you not to worry!

Amanda made the beautiful tag I used on this page, and I was lucky and won it in our last online auction! I begged and pleaded with one of the other participants to let me have this tag set and she relented and let me have it! The powers of manipulation! LOL! Anyways, I didn't want Amanda to think that I didn't love her tag, so here it is! I have two more to use, and I am already getting idea's about how to use them! Thanks Amanda!

A Fine Autumn Day

IMG_0815 A quick 2-pager about our trip to the corn maze last weekend. These are all the kooky pictures we took. We just can't pass up the opportunity to look silly! If there's a head cut out, you better believe we are going to see how we look...as a pig, or horse, or goat, or even as a criminal! I suppose we are easily amused. On another note, I was able to use two items that I received in swaps ages ago, so I am happy about that. I am really trying to get through some of the older supplies I have around here, but it's going to take some serious work on my part! I have so many unused things it's unreal!

County Fair Layout

I had a lot of photo's from our recent trip to the county fair, and in this month's Creating Keepsakes magazine there was a perfect grid sketch by Becky Higgins. So, using that as my starting point this is what I came up with:

It is very basic and simple, but I got everything on there that I wanted and I am happy with the results!

Oh, my aching...

Yesterday while I was waiting for Zoe to finish up with her soccer pictures, I was watching the girls field hockey team practice. I was never athletic in school (nor am I now) but I was thinking to myself how much that sport would hurt. Not just the possibility of being whacked by a stick, but also all the bending over and squatting. Then I thought how it would have hurt my back and/or knee's to play that sport. Then, I realized, that I'm getting old, and that kinda sucks. I mean, I was actually thinking about how my knee's would hurt to play that sport. Would I do high-school again? Not a chance. But, I can't believe at 31 I am already thinking about how (insert activity here) is going to hurt my knee's! Yikes.

An A-Maizing Weekend

IMG_0739Saturday started early for us and ended up being quite a long day. Landon had practice at 9am and then we decided to do our grocery shopping, eat lunch, then pack everyone up for Zoe's game which was about 40 minutes away. It was a beautiful day weather wise, low 70's, so sitting out and watching the game was nice. After her game we went over to Mema's for dinner and then finally home.

IMG_0769 Today is another gorgeous fall weather type day, all though it is a little warmer than yesterday. We decided to take the kids to the corn maze, and let them get us lost for awhile. I was amazed at how tall the corn was, probably 10+ feet, and the maze was HUGE! We were in there for a good 40-45 minutes but Landon finally managed to get us out of there...with the help of Tony's map of course! Landon doesn't know that though, he thinks he did all the work himself!

Once we got home Zoe had to do her homework and Landon decided to break out an old kit he hadn't played with in a long while. Tony is happily playing Lord of the Rings online, and I started reading a new book called My Lobotomy by Howard Dully. So far it is quite interesting, but I can tell already it is going to be a sad story. Hopefully it won't be so awful that I can't finish it, I hate when that happens!

April Fools Pranks

The two little kids made me laugh yesterday morning.  I was upstairs getting things ready for school when I heard them talking about how ...
