Sittin’ with Sissy

Since I was out working in the yard, I asked Zoe to keep an ear out for Harper. When he woke up, she decided to take him out on the deck to rock for awhile; he loves being outside!

In the past week or so Harper has started holding onto our fingers when we hold him. Of course we all love when he grasps just the tip of one of our fingers with his tiny fist.

I am always so happy when I see Zoe or Landon holding their baby brother. The love and tenderness they show him makes my heart skip a beat and I am reminded that these kids are truly remarkable, beautiful people.

Labor Day

We have owned a trampoline for several years now but it has been over at Tony’s mom’s house because we lacked the yard space to accommodate it. Now that we’ve moved into our new house, with a much larger yard, we have the trampoline in our yard…and it’s a big hit with Landon these days. Zoe will go out every once in awhile to jump, but every time Landon has a friend over or is able to convince one of us to go out with him, he’s a jumpin’ fool!

Landon’s friend came over yesterday and they spent a good amount of time on the trampoline. It was the perfect weather for it too since you can get pretty worn out and hot jumping. It’s weird that the weather was perfect for that but much too cold for the boys to enjoy the pool. I suppose there’s always next year though.

Zoe was smart and didn’t even attempt going swimming. She headed off to Dave and Busters with her boyfriend and his family while Tony did some work in the house and I spent some time clearing out more of the weeds and brush from the backyard.

Harper made the most of his day by taking a nice long nap in his stroller:

Meme and “Little Bit”

My mom has taken to calling Harper “Little Bit”. She just can’t seem to get over how tiny he is. Compared to a lot of babies, he really isn’t that tiny, but to all of us he just feels incredibly small. I’m guessing he weighs somewhere in the 8 pound range these days, but I won’t know for sure until his 1 month appointment.

I realize this photo is out of focus, but can’t you see the love and satisfaction on my mom’s face? I have to say Harper looks pretty content too…

The next photo is a little more in focus, and Harper even opened an eye for this shot. But only for a second.

Out of focus again, but cozy and content. These moments just won’t last long enough.

Sometimes…

Teenagers = Lazy

IMG_2226

Looks like someone needed a nap, but was chilly…and instead of getting up to get a blanket out of the bench that sits just behind her, she made do with a bunch of pillows.

So yeah, sometimes teenagers are pretty lazy. :)

3 Weeks

Today marks 3 weeks with our new baby. It’s been a somewhat rough start, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Everyone seems to be falling into the routine of being back in school and getting used to having a new baby around the house as well.

Landon got a great teacher this year (Ms. Cronin) and he’s very happy in his class despite the fact that his best buddy Daniel got a different teacher. I thought that it would be rough on him being in a different class, but he’s doing just fine.

Zoe’s back to her usual stuff, tough classes and soccer every day after school. She really thrives on this kind of stuff though and enjoys the challenges set before her. She’s pulled the muscle in her right thigh and hasn’t been able to do the practices after school, but she’s hoping to be able to practice again next week.

Here are a few photo’s of Harper today; at 3 weeks old.

Harper’s First Bath

We’ve been giving Harper little sponge bath’s here and there, but today (which was really 8/28, I’m just WAY behind!) he got his first “real” bath. We brought his tub down into the kitchen so that we all wouldn’t have to lean over the bathtub in order to help…and the tub leaked everywhere when we put it up on the counter!

So, as you’ll see in the photo’s, we had to prop the tub up in the sink and make it work…

Here he is looking slightly concerned. He actually really seems to enjoy his baths as long as we just keep him warm the whole time.

In this next photo he seems to be confusing my fingers for his breakfast…

Looking content while his Mama washes him:

He actually looks like he could just take a little nap while all this is going on:

Finally, his Meme wraps him in a towel and we head upstairs to brush out that beautiful hair and get him dressed…

We all spent the rest of the day fighting to hold him…mostly so that we could sniff his little tiny head that smells SOOO good after a bath!

Unhappy vs. Happy

Not Happy:

Happy:

Notice the differences?

No binkie, no blankie…not a happy baby. But, insert binkie and cover with a blankie, and he’s just fine! :)

Yellow + Gray = Gorgeousness

I was up with Harper early one morning, and I went downstairs to see Zoe off to school, and this was the outfit she had on:

I think it is super cute! I love the silver detail on the top, and the ankle boots look great with it too! I just wish my pictures had turned out better, they sure don’t do this outfit any justice!

A Visit from an Old Friend

Alex and Harper:

Last Thursday, when my fever finally subsided, an old friend of mine stopped by for a visit. I haven’t seen her in years (too many!) and it was great that she was off work and able to stop by for a visit. We had a bit of a falling out several years ago, but I’m glad that we have since reconciled because she always has been a good friend to me.

We didn’t do much since I still wasn’t feeling 100%, and I didn’t really want to drag Harper out to the mall or anything, so we sat around talking and reminiscing about the past. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon, and I’m hoping we’ll be able to get together again sometime soon.

Zoe, the Junior

Thank goodness I have a husband that pays attention to what’s going on around here.

Since I was sick last week on Zoe’s first day of school, Tony got up and got her obligatory first day of school photos! I didn’t know that he had gotten up and taken these pictures, but boy was I happy when I found out that he had! I was feeling all kinds of mom guilt about not getting up and seeing her off on her first day back. I would have really been upset though if I didn’t even have photo’s of the event! Starting 11th grade is a big deal after all!

She sure looked beautiful, but my baby sure isn’t a baby anymore. :(

April Fools Pranks

The two little kids made me laugh yesterday morning.  I was upstairs getting things ready for school when I heard them talking about how ...
