Lost in the Maize
This one's for you Amanda...I told you not to worry!
Amanda made the beautiful tag I used on this page, and I was lucky and won it in our last online auction! I begged and pleaded with one of the other participants to let me have this tag set and she relented and let me have it! The powers of manipulation! LOL! Anyways, I didn't want Amanda to think that I didn't love her tag, so here it is! I have two more to use, and I am already getting idea's about how to use them! Thanks Amanda!
A Fine Autumn Day
A quick 2-pager about our trip to the corn maze last weekend. These are all the kooky pictures we took. We just can't pass up the opportunity to look silly! If there's a head cut out, you better believe we are going to see how we look...as a pig, or horse, or goat, or even as a criminal! I suppose we are easily amused. On another note, I was able to use two items that I received in swaps ages ago, so I am happy about that. I am really trying to get through some of the older supplies I have around here, but it's going to take some serious work on my part! I have so many unused things it's unreal!

County Fair Layout
I had a lot of photo's from our recent trip to the county fair, and in this month's Creating Keepsakes magazine there was a perfect grid sketch by Becky Higgins. So, using that as my starting point this is what I came up with:
It is very basic and simple, but I got everything on there that I wanted and I am happy with the results!

Oh, my aching...
Yesterday while I was waiting for Zoe to finish up with her soccer pictures, I was watching the girls field hockey team practice. I was never athletic in school (nor am I now) but I was thinking to myself how much that sport would hurt. Not just the possibility of being whacked by a stick, but also all the bending over and squatting. Then I thought how it would have hurt my back and/or knee's to play that sport. Then, I realized, that I'm getting old, and that kinda sucks. I mean, I was actually thinking about how my knee's would hurt to play that sport. Would I do high-school again? Not a chance. But, I can't believe at 31 I am already thinking about how (insert activity here) is going to hurt my knee's! Yikes.

An A-Maizing Weekend
Saturday started early for us and ended up being quite a long day. Landon had practice at 9am and then we decided to do our grocery shopping, eat lunch, then pack everyone up for Zoe's game which was about 40 minutes away. It was a beautiful day weather wise, low 70's, so sitting out and watching the game was nice. After her game we went over to Mema's for dinner and then finally home.
Today is another gorgeous fall weather type day, all though it is a little warmer than yesterday. We decided to take the kids to the corn maze, and let them get us lost for awhile. I was amazed at how tall the corn was, probably 10+ feet, and the maze was HUGE! We were in there for a good 40-45 minutes but Landon finally managed to get us out of there...with the help of Tony's map of course! Landon doesn't know that though, he thinks he did all the work himself!
Once we got home Zoe had to do her homework and Landon decided to break out an old kit he hadn't played with in a long while. Tony is happily playing Lord of the Rings online, and I started reading a new book called My Lobotomy by Howard Dully. So far it is quite interesting, but I can tell already it is going to be a sad story. Hopefully it won't be so awful that I can't finish it, I hate when that happens!

swingin'
I have seen people do this type of layout before and I love how it looks, so I wanted to give it a try and lo and behold I had the perfect set of photos for it! I got the template for the curvy shape at the Creating Keepsakes site, and used some old {Mellow} Basic Grey paper I had lying around. I love when I can use up some old supplies, thus making room for NEW stuff! The pic's are of Landon when he finally figured out how to use his legs to get himself going on the swing. Now, he is a swing aficionado!
First Grade: 2000/2001
Not the best photo of the page, it is a little off centered, but you get the general idea..right? Scrapping school photo's is more of a challenge than I thought it would be. I want to keep the pages simple because there is always the class photo and fall/spring photo to include, so there just isn't much room left for other things.

Where a Kid Can be a Kid!
Landon has been begging me to take him to Chuck E. Cheese for months now, so finally today I broke down and took him. I let him invite his friend that way he would have someone to climb through the tunnels with. Both of them had a great time spending tons of tokens and climbing on the equipment. Neither of them could have cared less about the "show" so we didn't have to sit through that! I'm pretty sure Tony and Zoe had a good time playing games too...but Zoe would never admit to it! ;)
AA County Fair
Last night we all went to the county fair. It has been a few years (3 or 4) since the last time we were there, so it was all new to the kids again! Our fair is rather small, and there really isn't that much to do, but the kids were happy to ride the rides that were there and eat junk food! We got there around 6pm, and a lot of Zoe's friends were there so she ran around with them while we took Landon around to ride the things he was big enough for. We bumped into Zoe here and there and she even went in to the House of Mirror's with Landon. We stayed until 10 or so, and we were exhausted when we got home!

Kindergarten 1999
It occurred to me the other day that I should probably scrap Zoe's Kindergarten photo's. She is in high-school after all. I was happy that I could find the pictures, but even happier that once I started looking through them I could actually remember a lot about that day. I wrote all that I could remember and tucked it into the pocket behind the photo's along with some other Polaroid shots that I found. She sure was cute with her pigtails and Barbie backpack! Oh, time sure does fly by...

Spin Art!
Testing..1..2
Last week Landon had his first spelling and math tests. We worked with him on his words all week and crossed our fingers that he would be ready on Friday...when he came home on Friday he said that not only did he have a spelling test, but a math test too! We had to sweat it out all weekend, but yesterday he brought his papers home:
100% both papers! I sure hope that he will be able to do this for the rest of the year. He was very proud of himself and I was proud of him too.

Pretty Princess
Yesterday while we were at AC Moore, I found the cutest stickers (remember from yesterday's post!) from K&Company. The reason I decided to buy them was because the little girl dressed as the princess reminded me so much of Zoe when she was little. That girl loved to dress as a princess. So, last night I dug out some old pictures, Halloween 1998, and got this page done. Is this the cutest little princess or what? I hope to get some more pages done with these old photos, lord knows I have plenty to work with!

I {heart} AC Moore!
I went this morning to see what was new and I was so excited to see that they've gotten some new scrap stuff in!!! New stamps, stickers, embellishments, paper, cartridges; the works. I got a couple cute things, but the rest will have to wait till payday! Both sets of stamps are from Inkadinkado; cute huh? I also got this and this and I can't wait to use them!

Ninth Grade
My daughter the high-schooler...yeah, that's right people, somehow I am old enough to have a child in high-school. Can't believe it? Neither can I! It was pretty dark when I took this pic, only 6:15 a.m., so I had to use the flash which is why her face is a little washed out on here, but in real life the picture looks fine...

Super Sweet Seven
I have had this photo sitting on my desk for awhile now, and I really wanted to get it scrapped. I just didn't have any idea what I wanted to do with it, so I joined a challenge on scrapbook.com and followed their requirements. The one I chose is an ABC challenge and you have to use an element (of their choice) starting with each letter. For this page A= Alliteration (Super Sweet Seven) B= Blue background and C= chipboard (my parenthesis are covered chipboard pieces). I am pretty happy with the result, but I wish I had done my journaling differently, I don't like how it looks...live and learn right?
Chicnuges?
Last night was Back to School night for Landon. We got to meet his teacher and hear what she had to say about 2nd grade and what was expected etc. 2nd grade is going to be a lot tougher than 1st, that's for sure! They have homework every night (reading, math, spelling) and if they forget to do it, they get a zero. I was surprised by that, considering they are only 7 and 8 years old, but at the same time I know that the kids need to have some responsibility at this age and they may as well be responsible for their school work. When we first entered the room the teacher had covered up the names on the kids' desks' and we had to figure out which child was ours...they were really quite cute all those little drawn faces. Here is what was on Landon's desk...doesn't it look just like him? LOL!
I thought his drawing was really cute! On the left he wrote: "Who am I? I am 7. I like chicnuges (chicken nuggets). My ies (eyes) are brown and my hair is brown. I like to play mechroied (Metroid) and Picmen 1 and 2." You would think that the only thing the kid did was play video games...but I swear it isn't true!
Zoe also had a soccer scrimmage yesterday right after school and her team won 3-0. It was SO hot out, but you never would have guessed it by watching them, those girls never look tired. She has another scrimmage today after school and then we have her Back to School night tonight. Busy, busy, busy!
