When the sun shines…

we sure keep busy! We had a visitor in our yard that nearly drove my dog crazy! This bunny keeps coming back though, so I am sure it probably has babies nearby.

IMG_4090We did a ton of yard work, and Landon was happy to water the plants for us, or at least the bottom of the plants!?! ;)

IMG_4094We sat through a baseball game in blistering 90+ degree weather, and Zoe ran at a track meet the same day. We didn’t get to go again, but she has another meet this Wednesday that I am hoping to attend. IMG_4120IMG_4134IMG_4126IMG_4128

Zoe earned some $$ cutting the grass for Mema…she did a great job and Mema was so happy she didn’t have to do it herself! Landon earned a little money washing Mema’s car too, but I didn’t get pictures!

IMG_4154And, more yard work! I am so happy with the way our yard looks right now, I sure hope the summer heat doesn’t kill it all!

Outside

I haven’t been doing a lot of scrapping lately. Time and motivation seem to be a problem right now. If I have time I’m spending it doing other things…which is probably a good thing really! With the crazy weather we are having any sunny days I am trying to get some things done in the yard. We really have a lot of work to do out there.

Anyways, last night I had the urge to do a little scrapping and here is my page:

I love this picture of Landon…it is just so him. He rarely lets me get a picture without a goofy pose or face, so this was a nice change! My little boy sure is growing up!

Chain Lariat

IMG_4064I just love getting craft magazines but I am usually too afraid to even try most of the crafts shown. I like a lot of different things, but I just don’t have the materials or experience to try them. However, in the most recent issue of Crafts n' things magazine (pg 13), I found a necklace I really wanted to try to make. I have made a few bead necklaces/bracelets/earrings before, but nothing terrific, just kind of experimental stuff…stuff I haven’t even ever really worn. Anyways, once I saw the necklace, I knew I wanted to try it and it didn’t turn out to be very difficult at all! I need to practice some of my “wrapped loops” but with practice I’ll get better. Now I am just dying to hit up a bead shop and see what other cool crystals I can find!

Tulips

Just wanted to post a few random shots I took of my tulips. Tulips are some of my most favorite flowers and I have always wanted to grow some, so finally last fall I bought a bag to plant…here are the results!

Opening Day 2009

IMG_3982 Today was opening day for Landon’s baseball league. It turned out to be a gorgeous day, and a l-o-n-g one too! We had to be on the field by 8am for the opening day parade and ceremony. After that I had to drive Zoe over to her Mema’s house to mow the lawn. Zoe has decided that she wants to earn some money cutting her grass…hopefully she’ll stick it out for the whole summer.

IMG_3999

My mom also came up for the day so once she got here she and I went on a few errands (shopping) and then to Landon’s baseball game. Landon was really nervous about the game because he isn’t quite used to the pitching machine yet, but he did hit the ball on his first time up to bat! He was really proud of himself, and so were we! Zoe and Mema met us at the game to cheer him on and after the game we ran a few more errands had dinner then finally sat down for a few minutes before mom left! Today went by in such a blur, but it was a really nice Saturday!

HOME

I bought this letter kit from Joann’s a while ago, put it together, and then decided that I didn’t really like it. So, I pulled all the papers and embellishments off and did it my way with papers I liked…here is the finished product:

IMG_3960The best part about this project was that I already had everything I needed to complete it! The papers are all from Cosmo Cricut (Hey Sugar) and they are some of my favorite papers ever, I just love the designs and colors!

Easter Cross-stitch

It has been raining here non-stop for the past couple of days. Today is the first day the sun has been out in what feels like an eternity! I finally got a picture of the cross-stitch I finished…a little late, but it is finally done! I started this right after Christmas (I think) and just finished it the day after Easter! I’m slow when it comes to these kinds of projects, I just really have to be in the mood to sit and work on it, so it takes quite awhile to get one done.

IMG_3951IMG_3955Please ignore all the mistakes, I don’t think I’ve ever completed one without at least a few boo boos! I decided to start another right away, it’s a Fourth of July theme…maybe I’ll get it done before hand so I can hang it before the actual holiday!

Easter 2009

Ginger in the Easter spirit! For us, Easter is a nice quiet holiday where we really don’t do a whole lot. Landon was up at 8:30 this morning ready to hunt down his loot, and it went in a flash from that point on. (Even Ginger was in the Easter spirit!) The bunny left both kids clues as to where their basket was hidden, and honestly, I think that may have been the highlight of the whole day!

Landon’s clues were something like: Your next clue is in dad’s shoe…while Zoe’s were tougher riddles like: I have a face but cannot talk; it took her a little longer to figure hers out, but not much!

IMG_3909IMG_3915I think both kids were happy with their bunny loot. Landon got a couple toys (bubbles, stunt kite) and Zoe got an Itunes card and some makeup/nail polish. Both kids also got some candy, a bathing suit and some flip flops. Now if the only the weather would cooperate!

Colored Eggs

We finally got around to coloring our eggs Saturday afternoon. I kept meaning to do it while Jaron was here so he could help, but I forgot and then it was just too late. So, we finally got to it on Sat. while Zoe’s friend Viktor was here. For some reason this is one activity my kids both look forward to doing every year. There is just something special about dropping eggs in cups full of colored water!

I didn’t know how Viktor would feel about me taking his picture, so I didn’t insist that he look at the camera with his best egg forward. I’ll make sure to do a better job embarrassing  him the next time he comes over!

Just Keep on Swimmin’

IMG_3758

Jaron remembered to bring his swim trunks up here (but not a jacket?!), so I took that as a hint that he wanted to go swimming. Landon loves swimming too, so after picking Zoe up from track practice we headed to the pool. (Zoe only likes swimming if it’s with her friends…but, once she got in the pool today I couldn’t help but notice that she was having fun. She even smiled a few times!) It was packed but the kids didn’t seem to notice and they had a great time. IMG_3766IMG_3775IMG_3753

Domino’s!

My nephew is staying with us for part of his Spring Break, and the kid’s were entertaining themselves with the domino’s earlier this evening. At some point they decided they NEEDED me to record their masterpiece, so once they finally got it the way they liked it I was summoned only to find that my video camera wouldn’t work! So, Zoe obliged them and recorded with her little camera…Landon thinks that this domino business is going to bring him money somehow. I don’t know what he means when he says this is going to make him rich, but he’s pretty convinced!

Here’s a few shots of the set-up:

Black, White and Beautiful

I’m finally back to using my camera! I haven’t been pulling it out on a regular basis for what seems like a couple of months (probably more like a few weeks) but I have been snapping away these past few days. I think this change in weather probably has a lot to do with it. I’m always looking for scrapbook material, and I wanted a few close-up’s, so here’s what I ended up with:

IMG_3687IMG_3683IMG_3693

I must say that taking pictures outside in the natural light is the best! None of those ugly shadows hanging around and the sunshine sure made everyone smile! Even Tony who doesn’t usually let me get these up close shots!

A Sure Sign of Spring

IMG_3669

IMG_3679I was so excited to see that butterfly on my tree yesterday! I ran in and grabbed my camera, but I didn’t get the greatest picture…it was pretty high up and I couldn’t get a great angle, but here is proof that spring has finally arrived!

Boogie

I’m not sure where I was going with this page, I started with one group of papers, then changed direction, and now I am thinking I probably should have just done what I had in mind in the first place! But, I’m not changing it now…I’m just going to deal with it! ;)
